So my birthday celebrations began on Friday... Headed to Do Not Sit to see Yokoo b2b Chaim and my bros Surreal Flight. Surreal Flight was warming up the room nicely (literally! As Miami was experiencinga cold front) and had the room grooving. At about 1-1:30am Yokoo and Chaim got on and the whole
room was filled with excitement. To be honest, WOW! Those two are amazing together. At first i was not sure to what to expect from them, but they blew my mind. The next day, i had my friends come over for tacos and drinks as i wanted to take my birthday (Sunday) easy; so i figured it would be best to go hard the day before. My wife prepared some delicous tacos and even more delicious cake! It was a great time and a good start to my day. Later that night i headed to Do Not Sit as i was on warm up duties for an Art Basel Showcase with Behrouz, Hoj, and Gab Rhome. I was a bit nervous because it was a big night, but once i played my first track, that was put to ease. I was actually really pleasee with my set and the response it got from the crowd. After me came Gab Rhome, and he was probably my favorite of the night. His song selection and mixing was really impressive. At the end of his set he played b2b with Hoj for a bit before Hoj went solo. Hoj played a great set as usual and had everyone dancing. The vibe in the room was amazing! Finally, came the maestro, Berhrouz! He took us on one of his signature journeys late into the morning hours. Hes truly a master of his craft and was on point. Finally, the day of my actual birthday arrived ! Woke up to breakfast and coffee in bed and spent the rest of the day chilling. In the evening we headed over to Bird Bowl to celebrate my and my nephew's bday! Its pretty great that we share the same birthday. We had a great time bowling and eating pizza. After that, it was time to go home and rest as i had to work early the next day :( I must say that this birthday/birhday weekend was best one to date and i couldnt have been happier to have spent it with my wife, family and friends! by the way i recorded my set this weekend and its up on soundcloud! Check it out: https://soundcloud.com/viktopmia/viktop-do-not-sit-on-art-basel-december-9-2017 So far December has started off amazingly! This past Saturday, Atish returned to DNS another amazing night. As usual, whenever hes in town, the club is packed early; which is great for me. I went b2b with Surreal Flight in the warm-up and we had a blast! Played some real grooves with nice melodies and pads. The crowd was feeling it, and they were ready for Atish.
Its safe to say that Atish killed it! The room was slammed and not a soul was standing still in that place. It was definitely one of those nights. Next up is my birthday celebration! Ill be setting the mood for a Do Not Sit Art Basel Showcase alongside Behrouz, Hoj, & Gab Rhome! Holy moly what a line up. Stay tuned for more updates :) Starting with the Andanza party, it was a great success! MIICHII set the mood nicely and we had a nice crowd early on the night. At about 1am we started our b2b2b with Surreal Flight and Nii Tei. I was really excited for this as it was the first time that the 4 of us had ever played together, and I must say, WOW! The 4 of us synchronized really well and had the room packed and the crowd dancing til 5am :) that was one hell of journey.
This past week/weekend was rather chill as we had our friends in town visiting from Sweden. We showed them around town, went shopping, and took an airboat ride through the Everglades. I love when people come to visit because its the perfect excuse to go to the Eveglades and get on these airboat rides. Its so liberating to be in the Everglades floating and swerving through the swap, soaking in the sun, and feeling the wind hit you; its one of my favorite things to do. Not only that but sometimes you get to see alligators, birds and other animals that are native to the Everglades durimg the airboat ride. Next gig is December 2nd at Do Not Sit alongside Atish and Surreal Flight! Stay tuned for more updates :) (Below you can see one of the pics i took at the Everglades on my phone) V hey everyone!
Just posted a recording of my b2b with Surreal Flight from Halloween weekend :) head on over to my soundcloud and check it out ! The link is below https://soundcloud.com/viktopmia/viktop-b2b-surreal-flight-do-not-sit-on-halloween-october-27-2018 This past weekend started off with A couple of friends coming over for dinner and drinks before heading to Do Not Sit. One of them brought over a bottle of wine called 19 Crimes and it is now my new favorite..
We headed to Do Not Sit a bit early to do a sound check and make sure everything was in order. I played alone from 10-11pm and then went b2b with Surreal Flight from 11pm-1:30am. It had been about a month since we played together and was great to re-connect. We meshed well and played a set that was mainly tribal-influenced with trippy and melodic sounds. After came Concret, and he played a really good set. It was my first time meeting him and it was pleasure. The next day my wife and I woke up early so she can go ride horses, and boy were we struggling as we went hard and only slept two hours. After, we spent the rest of the day recovering. Then on Sunday, we spent the day Netflix and chillin until going to the airport to pick up our friend Olivia who was flying in from Sweden. After picking her up we met up with some friends in Wynwood for diner. I had Chicken and Waffles, and it was fire!!! Well that was how my Halloween weekend went down. Stay tuned for more updates! :) Until next time <3 Sorry for being missing in action the last weeks, after my gig on October 7th I have been taking some time off of music and social media, and spending time with my family and friends:)
To begin with, my gig on October 7th was awesome! Playing in West Palm Beach was just as fun as it was the last time. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly, just like the crowd. I got on at 2am and ended at 6am... what a ride. It was great to let loose and express myself musically to a fairly new crowd. The day after i spent it with my wife and some friends, and got ready for the work week. It has been great to take a week or two off from music to re-gain focus on whats important and remain motivated. This past weekend i went to Tampa with my wife for a mini-getaway. We stayed at waterside hotel and it was lovely! Got to spend some quality with the wifey and add another road trip to our list. Tampa has some great scenery and cool buildings. Looking forward to visiting the city sometime soon :) The next week is also going to consist of the same as i have another week off from music. My next date is Halloween weekend October 27th alongside Concret and Surreal Flight at Do Not Sit! Stay tuned Last friday morning, our dear friend Nii Tei's father passed away. We want to help offset the costs for the funeral and flight to Africa for Nii, so that he may properly pay respects to his father, alongside his family. I started a gofundme page for Nii and hopefully you can somehow contribute to this cause! Link to donate is below:
