Wow what a week! It all started on Monday when I went to go see Behrouz play alongside Audiofly and Blond:ish for his annual Behrouz & Friends party at Wall. I got there early to see my friends Surreal Flight warm up the party; they played really well. Then, Blond:ish came after, followed by Behrouz, and then Audiofly. Everyone played really great music and I enjoyed myself. During the party I realized that I have warmed up for all of the artists that were playing that night. I felt a bit of accomplishment and it made me happy. This was a good party to get me excited for Thursday's event in Wynwood.
Thursday finally arrived and I could not be happier. I was a bit nervous as this was my first time playing at one of the Do Not Sit daytime parties; being nervous is always a good thing. It was a beautiful day and I had prepared for weeks for this event. I got on after Nii and Alan (which Do Not Sit Residents as well) and all of my nervousness went away. I was playing back to back with one of the guys from Surreal Flight and we were synchronized. It was probably one of the best sets we've ever played together and we received alot of praise for it! I wish I would have recorded it... atleast all of my hard work payed off. The rest of the party was just amazing. All of the artists played well and the vibe was amazing. My favorite set probably was Mira's. She's originally from Berlin and it was my first time seeing her live. I now know why they call her the Queen of Berlin. Nico Stojan came on after and he was my second favorite set of the night. I couldnt be any happier with how my set went and how the rest of the party carried on. The following day it was time to travel. This time I was headed to Atlanta where I would be making my debut for Project B. I had no idea what to expect at first, but once I walked in to the venue it had a warm, comfortable vibe. It was on the rooftop of a restaurant called Delightful Eatz in Midtown Atlanta. I got to play back to back with Bobi Stevekovski (the owner/founder of Project B.) for an hour, before playing for about an hour and a half on my own. It was fun playing Bobi. Usually going back to back with someone can be very difficult but with him it was not. Rather it was pleasant and I really enjoyed it. Once I was playing solo I brought the mood down a bit and played dreamy as usual. Everybody loved it and I received great feedback from the crowd. Honestly, I couldnt be happier with my debut and I am already looking forward to the next one! I left Atlanta inspired and I hope to remain this inspired for a really long time. This week was truly special and one I will remember forever! Until next time... "So I had the weekend off this week. This allowed for me to recharge my energy for what is an exciting week in Miami. Miami Music Week might be the mecca of music weeks anywhere in the world. What makes it better is that the club that I play at is hosting a bunch of showcases and parties with world class artists which I look forward to seeing. Not only that, but the club is having a showcase of its own but this time its going to be in Wynwood. The name of the event is "Do Not Sit in Wynwood". Here I will be playing alongside my talented, fellow Residents as we kick off the event. After us we have a stacked line-up of artists that include: Behrouz, Atish, Birds of Mind, Nu, Mira, Nico Stojan, and YokoO! I have warmed up the dance floor for all but two of these artists and I look forward to doing so again. These events are always so special; with great music and magical vibes. My MMW festivities commence on Monday the 20th, as I will be going to Wall to support Behrouz (the owner of Do Not Sit on the Furniture) as he has his legendary Behrouz & Friends Party. This year he will have Audiofly and Blond:ish (two artists that I have warmed up for as well), accompany him. This is going to be bananas! I cannot wait. As usual my brothers Surreal Flight will be on warm-up duties for this event. These guys are masters when it comes to setting the mood and its great to see them play and learn from them! Well that is all for this week. Hope to see you all on the 23rd for a very special event, that is "Do Not Sit in Wynwood"! You can get your tickets online at below or at Resident Advisor; which I highly recommend as ticket prices at the door will be pricey and you might not be able to get in :] till next time... So this weekend i got the chance to play before another friend. His name is YokoO. Not only is he a great guy but he rocks that room like no other. The night started off with me playing, followed by my really good friends Surreal Flight and then YokoO. It was one of those know nights that you knew that Do Not Sit was gonna be slammed and all because of YokoO; he has become a Miami favorite. Very few DJs can keep everyone dancing from start to the early hours in the morning, and last night he kept the crowd there past 7am. Wow...
The music last night was amazing and the vibes were crazy good. Its nights like this that i look forward to, as i get to set the mood and play beautiful music; only to see the nights goes on, and how the mood progresses from what i had started. I take pride in setting the mood as it is the most essential part of a good night. Ask anyone who knows about this and they will agree with me, it is a form of art. My next gig so far is the 23rd for the Do Not Sit in Wynwood party during MMW. I'll be playing amongst my fellow resident and artists like Behrouz, Atish, Mira, Nico Stojan, and YokoO (yes i get to play with him again). These parties are second to none and I am really looking forward to representing the club musically, but also hearing and watching some of my favorite DJs. Til next time :) So this week was all about relaxing and preparing myself for next week's gig. It is good to take a few days off (or a week in my case) in order to recover, and catch up on sleep and rest. This is also a good time to reflect and see if you have reached your goals or where you stand in terms of reaching them. Often do we get caught up in the moment and forget where we are going. We get caught up in an idea or moment and forget about everything else; that is why it is good to take a week off here and there. It allows you to look at the bigger picture and decide where you can improve, or analyze what you have done well. These moments are also great to spend time with your loved ones and dedicate your time to them.
This past week I have spent alot of time with my wife, working out, doing yoga, drinking coffee, and a bunch of others things we do not usually get to do because of my busy schedule. Although I have dedicated most of my time to her this last week, I have also managed to start preparing for my gig on March 11th with my friend YokoO and my brothers Surreal Flight. This gig is one of those that I really look forward to. Not only because I am playing with my friends, but also because I identify with the sound.Expect dreamy, groovy music accompanied by beautiful vibes that come with the crowd that comes out to these shows. This week was also great because I found out that I will be playing at the Do Not Sit on the Furniture party during Miami Music Week. This is a huge honor as I get to play alongside some of my favorite artists as well as represent the club! Well, im off to continue my relaxation before I begin the work week tomorrow. See you guys next weekend :] |
