So this weekend was pretty awesome. One, because i was playing at Do Not Sit and Two, because Charnis was in town. Jon Charnis is an artist/friend of mine that is respected around the world for his productions and for his DJ-ing. He has releases on two of the most relevant and influencing labels in the underground music scene which are: Innervisions and All Day I Dream. It was great to catch up with Jon after not seeing him for about a year. We spent the day at the beach with some friends and ate at my favorite burger joint called Burger & Shakes. After I dropped him back off at his hotel, I returned home to prepare for my gig. I was really excited to play as I was playing a b2b set with a fellow resident DJ by the name of Alan Epps, and it was to warm-up the dancefloor for a respected artist that happens to be one of my friends. Alan and I played a great set full of dreamy melodies and groovy beats. After us came Bo Borzu, a friend from San Francisco who is known for his Burning Man camp called Disco Knights. Bo is also a great guy who is full of positive energy and good music. He took over and kept the flow going. By the time Jon went on, the dancefloor was packed and the vibe was heavy. Charnis took us into the early hours of the morning on a musical journey that had everyone in the club dancing (NOT SITTING ON THE FURNITURE). Overall, it was great night full of great music and catching up with old friends. Next gig is the 11th, as I set the mood for none other than YokoO (who just so happens to be on All Day I Dream as well). Until next time....
Since I had the weekend off so I decided to go see Behrouz play at Do Not Sit. It's always great to hear him play, especially at the club he created and owns. This time it was a Saturday night (about 2am), the weather was great, and the vibe inside the club was amazing. There's always a great and unique at the club, and even more so when Behrouz plays; maybe it has to do with his charisma and the fact that he's a guy. Behrouz took us into the early hours of the morning and he was feeling it. The crowd was responding to everything that he played as he took us on a musical journeys; he never disappoints... I look forward to seeing him playing again soon in our intimate room, not many people can rock the crowd the way does. I left the club inspired to make music and I am looking forward to the upcoming week, as I get to go b2b with Alan Epps in the warm-up for Jon Charnis. Charnis is an artist I really enjoy listening to, and its going to be great to hear what he brings this time. He recently recorded a mix for the SXM Festival and its awesome. You should give it a listen whenever you can!
This weekend I opened up for Armen Miran as he made his Do Not Sit debut. With releases on Sol Selectas and collaborations with Hraach, Armen is definitely making a name for himself. I was excited to hear what he was going to play, and my ears were very satisfied. Armen took over after Surreal Flight and took on a journey late into the morning. There was an amazing vibe from the beginning and everyone came ready to dance. I saw alot of new faces last night and it was great to see their reaction to what I played. Many new-comers do not know what to expect when they come into the club and it is satisfying to hear their positive feedback about both the vibe of the club and the music. We actually have a new manager that started this weekend and she already loves working at the club. Not only is she a cool person, but she's a music lover herself. It is great to have genuine people both working at and attending the club; it makes the experience that much better. I am happy to be part of such a great place and I am excited to see how the club will continue to progress this year. Nothing but positive vibes... Catch me in two weeks (Jan 25th) at Do Not Sit as I play a b2b with my bro Alan Epps, in the warm-up for Jon Charnis. Charnis is a cool guy and I can't wait to hang out with him and hear him play. :]
Played last night for the Magician on Duty and Friends party at Do Not Sit on the Furniture and it was definitely a magical time. Went b2b with my bro Nii Tei and it was awesome. I arrived about an hour before my set time (while RC was playing) and the vibe was good. It was my first time seeing RC play and i really enjoyed his set. Got on at about midnight and played a Edward- Open. The dancefloor was packed and Nii and myself got the crowd really going. Nothing but smiles all night. These are the kinds of nights that resonate with me for a while. Catch me next weekend alongside Armen Miran and Surreal Flight at Do Not Sit on the Furniture.
